Please note changes in trading permissions are applied within 1 to 2 business days.
- To add additional trading permissions to your account:
- Log in to the Account management interface using your second user name and second password (and security card if applicable)
- Click on "Settings".
- Click on "Account Settings".
- Click on the modify icon on the "Trading Permissions" section.
- In the permissions table, tick the box corresponding to the type of instrument and country you wish to trade on.
- Important notes:
- For a type of instrument, there may be several sections to enable to get trading permissions.
As an example for Options, you find separate sections for "Stock Options", "Index Options" and "Futures Options". - If the type of instrument you want to add does not appear in the list, it might be because you first need to state your trading experience on this type of instrument. In this case, refer to the Trading Experience section below.
- For a type of instrument, there may be several sections to enable to get trading permissions.
- If you un-check markets you already trade on, you will remove trading permissions for these markets.
- Click on "Continue" at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and reply to any requested additional information.
- Remember that changes to your trading permissions will apply within 1 to 2 business days.
- Do not hesitate to contact us if you added permissions more than 48 hours ago.
- Trading Experience - If the type of market you want to add does not appear in the list:
- From the account management left menu, click on "Settings".
- Click on "Account Settings".
- Click on the modify icon on the "Financial Information" section.
- Scroll to the "Investment Experience" section and declare your Trading Experience on the type of instrument you wish to trade.
- Click on "Continue" at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions if any appear.
Once your trading experience has been validated by Interactive Brokers (from 1 to 5 business days depending on your account status), you will be able to add the additional trading permissions to your account.
- If you receive an error message when activating a permission, it means that Interactive Brokers does not grant you this permission.
